INDIVIDUAL GAME IDEATION
Week 1 - Individual Game Development Ideation
Instructions: Each student should brainstorm one or more game ideas within the given limitations and prepare an initial pitch.
Week 2 - Individual Asset Creation
Instructions: Based on your game idea, make game assets. Then, import this into Godot.
Mood Board
I began the design process by creating a mood board to establish the visual direction and overall aesthetic for my project. This initial step helped me define the style and atmosphere I wanted to achieve in the final outcome. Since my goal is to develop a 2D HD game, the mood board served as a visual reference to ensure consistency across all assets.
Figure 1.1: Mood Board
For my first asset, I chose to model a candle as a key element in the game environment. I envisioned candles as a subtle yet effective lighting source that could create a moody and atmospheric tone rather than relying on harsh, direct lighting. This choice contributes to the gloomy and immersive aesthetic I aim to achieve.

Figure 1.3: Scene Layers
I started by combining primitive meshes such as circles and cubes to form the candle’s main components:
Circle: candle body
Circle.001: melted wax and flame
Circle.002: flame base
Cubes: wick
Using the Loop Cut and Slide tool, I added extra geometry for better shape control, especially around the melted areas. I then applied Subdivision Surface and Shade Smooth to refine the form and achieve a softer, natural look.
Asset #2: Barrel
I decided to create a barrel to match the eerie mood of the scene. The dark wood texture adds to the gloomy feel and fits well with the idea of an old wooden house with creaking floors. It also works as a small background detail that makes the environment feel more realistic.

1.4: Scene Layers
For the barrel, I kept the design simple by using three circle meshes as the main structure. I added loop cuts to control the shape and used embossing techniques to create the raised wooden bands around the barrel.
Importing on Godot
To test my assets, I imported them into Godot to see how they would appear in the actual game environment. During this process, I noticed that the candle model was the same size as the barrel, which looked unrealistic. I then rescaled the candle to achieve a more accurate proportion and better visual balance between the two assets.
