REFLECTION

Experience
During my final project for the Interactive Design course, I was tasked with designing and developing a single-page microsite centered around the theme of lifestyle. The goal was to create an immersive and visually appealing microsite that effectively communicated the chosen theme and engaged users through thoughtful design and interactive elements. The project began with extensive research on current trends in lifestyle websites and microsites. I explored various design inspirations and gathered visual references to create a mood board that would guide the overall aesthetic of the site. This process included analyzing color schemes, typography, layout styles, and interactive elements that were prevalent in successful lifestyle websites. I then moved on to the design and development phase, utilizing HTML and CSS to bring the site to life. This phase involved creating a visually engaging layout that was also functional and easy to navigate. I incorporated interactive elements, such as hover effects and clickable images, to enhance user engagement.

Observation
Throughout the project, I observed the importance of a well-structured content layout and the impact of visual elements in user engagement. By carefully planning the content structure and gathering visual references, I was able to create a cohesive and appealing design. The mood board helped in setting the right tone and style for the microsite. Additionally, integrating features such as a photo gallery, expert interviews, and a subscription section contributed significantly to the overall user experience.

Findings
One of the key findings from this project was the realization of how critical it is to balance aesthetics with functionality. While a visually stunning design can attract users, the usability and accessibility of the site are what keep them engaged. The use of HTML and CSS allowed me to implement interactive elements that enhanced user interaction. This project has not only enhanced my technical skills but also deepened my understanding of user-centered design principles, which are essential for creating effective and sustainable digital experiences.
