User Research
To begin this project, I considered the questions needed to ask users in order to gain insight about the application I have chosen. These are the questions I have come up with to conduct my survey and interview, the highlighted text implies alterations I have made after receiving feedback

Questionnaire
After finalizing the questions, I proceeded with creating the survey on Google Form for distribution. The form consists of the following type of questions:
  • Multiple choice
  • Checkboxes
  • Linear scales
  • Open-ended
Finalized survey sent out for distribution:

Interview
For the interview, I realised that my questions only catered to current app users. Based on the feedback for my survey, it was encouraged to find a wide demographic to acquire more data. Which is why I decided to also find participants that are new to Superfan. These interviewees will explore Superfan during the interview itself.

For the interview analysis, I scripted the highlights from the participants to narrow down key points and identify a pattern:

Card Sorting Method
For this process, I listed down the key features which was then put into Optimal Workshop for individuals to partake.

FINAL PRESENTATION

FEEDBACK

WEEK 7 - 04/11/2024
Attach the current design's screenshot for relevant questions and reconsider the options for the survey in a way that captures users and non-users. For the interview questions, include follow up questions to understand the user research in more detail.

WEEK 9 - 18/11/2024
Summarize the user demographics into one slide and analyze the interviews. For the card sorting, include a screenshot of the responses along with the analysis. Certain slides could be summarized into one slide.

REFLECTION
The research aspect of redesigning Superfan has been a great learning experience, helping me apply what I’ve learned from Application Design I in the past few weeks. One of the key parts of the project was identifying the MVP, where I focused on selecting the most important features that would help me focus on the app’s core purpose meet user needs without overcomplicating the design. Using methods like questionnaires, interviews, and card sorting helped me understand user needs and organize the app’s features effectively. Creating user personas gave me a clear picture of the target audience, guiding my design decisions. I also created a user flow chart and information architecture map to better understand how users would navigate the app. It was helpful to me that we were taught to compile the document with step-by-step guidelines and activities were conducted in class to understand this document practically. Overall, this project has taught me to importance of user research when designing a functional, user-centered app.
